We proudly present...

... Alia Dora Røsvik, born on the 21st of January at 11.37am. 2600 g light and 48 cm short.
After fighting her weight back to over 2500 g after losing 300 g we were allowed to go home today.

We are so in love with our little daughter, she is a very content and calm baby.

Thank you, Lord, for choosing us to be Alia's parents!

childhood memories

Today we remembered that we had some leftover sparkling sticks thingies from New Years and so Erlend decided that it was a good idea to blow them up, he says it reminds him of his childhood days ...

 getting the powder of the sticks was the hardest part

 first he tried to light it with a paper "fuse"

when that did not work, he just lid the plastic cup on fire

 it was quite an impressive flame

 all that is left of it now is some melted plastic (hidden under snow) that my mom is gonna find in the spring in her backyard and wonder what it is

Sometimes I do wonder if we are ready to have kids... :-)

Tonight we had the youth group meeting at our place and afterwards we headed out to play some billiard (shoot some pool?). Lots of fun!

About whales and stuff

What to blog about on a day on which it feels that your biggest accomplishment was to turn from your left to your right side???

I have heard pregnant women say that they feel like a beached whale (gestrandeter Wal) and today I totally understand what they mean.

I typed it into google images and found this picture and it is how I feel (just a bit rounder).
(Please don't take this the wrong way, I am neither trying to be politically incorrect and say something against whales, and even less am I trying to say that I am not happy about being pregnant)

What made me laugh is that a few scrolls down the page this picture came up. So there is definitely a connection between whales and pregnancy and that is when people might think you feel like the picture below, you actually feel like the poor creature above...

Well, but enough complaining. We are getting so excited since there are only 11 days left until we hopefully get to hold our little one in our arms. The ultrasound today showed that she is about 2700g and 49cm, so a bit on the tiny side (does not feel that way though :-)). So we hope she is using her last few days "inside" to fatten up :-).

preaching

Today Erlend preached about prayer in our church. He spoke in Norwegian and I translated into German.
No, my Norwegian is not that good that I can just translate a sermon on the spot, so I had it all pre-(google :-))translated and hence a big pile of notes laying in front of me, which I had a hard time glancing down to because there was a big round something "in the way" :-)).

We have enjoyed having our friend Kristine visit for the last few days. She will be moving to Asia in the summer, just like us and it is so nice to have somebody here to talk, look forward and dream about that time with.
One of the perks for her to come here (it sure is NOT the weather!) are the prizes in Germany. We have already had a successful shopping tour and she is planning on getting birthday presents for some family members because things are just so cheap compared to Norway.
Tonight we decided to go "all out" and visit the big yellow M. After ordering 3 McDeal menus we paid less then what we would have had to pay at the same restaurant in Norway for just one menu meal. To put the whole thing into numbers, maybe you have heard about the Big Mac Index. A Big Mac in Norway costs 7.06 dollars, in Germany it costs about 4.34 dollars!

Yeah, prize wise Germany definitely wins, but then again, Norway has fjords.... :-).

1.Januar

Happy New Year everybody!

After a nice chilled New Years celebration we had a nice quiet 1st of January today.

We are looking back on an eventful year and are amazed by God's faithfulness towards us. Looking to the future we see a busy year full of big changes and we are excited to see what God will do.
