Congratulations to the engaged couple

Today my brother asked his beautiful girlfriend a very important question and now she is wearing a beautiful ring on her finger! We are so excited and happy for them!

go kart tour

We went on an awesome trip today where we went up a mountain in a cable car

 enjoyed the beautiful view...

 (ser ut som trollveggen, ikke sant?)

had some lunch

 and then we got to drive down the mountain in gokarts, now how cool is that?

 some went very fast, some slower

 some went too fast (look to the right and see who thought accidents are funny :-))

but everybody made it down without serious injuries, just a lot of dust in their faces

this and that

Today people did different stuff, some went on a long hike, others just for a little stroll in a nearby town, other slept almost all day :-). I guess people relax in different ways :-).

So for now just a few more pictures from our family vacation...

a hike that went wrong and then right

Today it was decided by the head of the family that we would all go on a hike. So we all gathered and followed certain people who shall remain unnamed because they told the rest of us that they had studied the map and were sure we had to go up this road.

 And it would not have been so bad because this was the scenery!

 but it was actually a lot steeper than it looks here and we walked and walked

 well, not everybody walked

 After a good hour uphill it was realized that the map had been read upside down and we were going to either need to walk about 3 more hours uphill or...

 ... some of us would just go down again and get the cars to pick the others up - sounds good! (Erlend loooooved that he got to drive the road instead of walking it)

 we found a hut where we had some lunch and people still tried to find out how we could go so wrong

some went on to hike to this church others went back down, we all met up at the hotel again for a BBQ, had a bowling tournament and now it is games and movies... all in all a good day!

Family vacation

We arrived at a wonderful hotel yesterday to meet the whole Kuhs family and we have been having a wonderful time so far.

 in the morning we have Bible studies together

 we enjoy good food (big breakfast buffet and 3 course dinners)

and the indoor pool is not bad either

Welcome Isak Tro

Today we had the joy of becoming uncle and auntie to a precious little American/Irish/English/Norwegian boy named Isak Tro (tro means faith in Norwegian). We are so happy and sad at the same time because it will be a long time until we actually get to meet him.

awesome BBQ

Today we were invited to a BBQ at the house of my brother's friends. I looooove BBQ, so much good food, sitting together and chatting, and what we appreciate especially right now, it is warm and dark at the same time, which is nice when you sit outside (and what never happens in Norway, it is either warm or dark, but not both things at the same time :-))

Prater und Buffet

Today my brother took us to the famous Vienna park, the "Prater". Part of it is kind of like a theme park and one thing that Erlend and I both wanted to do was a really big karussell (not sure if that is what you would call it...) but again I will just let the pictures speak.

 ... but then he was very surprised to find this at the restaurant this evening - kangaroo meat

 Matthias and Juli took us to an amazing Asian restaurant with an all you can eat buffet

you could pick all the ingredients yourself and then they would fry it up for you and add a sauce of you choice - my kind of food!

Slovakia and Hungary

Today Erlend did one of his favorite things - he went to new countries! Slovakia and Hungary were on the list.

I am not sure if you can tell on the picture, but yes, 40 celcius in Hungary so we did not stay that long. 

Erlend found out later that we went to the Hungarian town with the most dentist per capita in the whole world (because all the Austrians go there for their treatments)

history lesson

Today my brother took us to a history museum. Again I have a lot of pictures...

 This is the car in which the crown prince of Austria and his wife were assassinated - which caused the first World War - what a piece of history!

 Today we chose a more "international" meal

 Erlend was really tired on the way back home - so he sat down while waiting for the subway

he even got given money by somebody (ok, it was one cent from my brother, but still... :-))

Vienna sightseeing

Today our hosts took us on a sightseeing tour around Vienna and I think I will just let the pictures talk...

 of course, we had to go and see the big Dome

 No kidding - there was a public toilet that had the added service of classical music being played over loudspeakers 

 it was VERY hot here today (that was already at 6 o´clock in the evening)

 Erlend is very happy about the food they have here...

on the road again

Today we drove to Vienna to spend the week with my oldest brother and his wife. We are so excited about the coming week!

A few weeks ago I wrote a post about traveling in Norway, so today you will see just a few pictures about traveling from Germany to Austria...

Just to compare a bit, in Norway traveling 360 km took us a bit more than 8 hours.
Today to get from where we live to Vienna, about 560 km away took us under 6 hours.... go figure.

 Three or more lanes, no speed limit - Erlend loves it!

 After lots of fast driving you come to a sign and then you are in Austria!

It is sooo hot here! But we are thankful for all the sunshine!
